Slaves were the property of the owner until they were not. The same person could be a slave in Virginia but not in New York. Same person but two classes.

In our society, a miscarriage is a tragedy but an abortion is not but the results are the same. That inconsistency is what muddles this debate

“Miscarriage” is the label that is applied when the woman wanted the baby to live and the baby died anyway.

“Abortion” is the label that is applied when the woman wanted to the baby to die and killed the baby.

One is labeled a tragedy by most, and the other is labeled a right by many, based solely on what the woman wanted.

What inconsistency? A miscarriage is nature expressing a fatal deformity in the baby’s development.

An abortion is the deliberant act by the host to terminate another human being.

I think of a motel where a tornado comes and wipes out a guest as opposed to the desk clerk of the motel shooting a guest in his bed. Nature vs Murder

Most of us can distinguish between death due to natural causes and murder.
