Inside a Tennessee abortion clinic after Roe’s fall Choices, a clinic in Memphis, canceled some appointments and fielded desperate calls from patients, with dozens getting procedures just in time. “I cannot have this baby,” one caller said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Friday morning, a voicemail popped up on the patient’s phone: She needed to call the clinic right away.

The Supreme Court had just overturned Roe v. Wade, throwing into chaos an already fragile and limited system of abortion care across the South, and hundreds of women learned that the abortions they were seeking were now illegal. That wasn’t yet the case in Tennessee, but the reprieve was temporary.

The patient connected with a staff member at Choices, an independent clinic in Memphis, around noon. The worker told her that they were canceling some upcoming appointments, and would call her back soon to let her know about the status of hers. Her procedure was scheduled for Monday. By then, there was a chance it would be too late.

Tennessee is one of the handful of states with trigger laws where bans on abortion won’t go into effect immediately; the delay here is expected to last at least 30 days. But there’s another measure that is expected to kick in first. On Friday, Tennessee’s attorney general asked the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to allow a state law largely banning abortion around six weeks of pregnancy to take effect, which would halt about 90% of the procedures at Choices. A decision could come as soon as Monday.

The patient, 31, who asked for anonymity to protect her privacy, had five children at home, the youngest not yet 2. She was in her first trimester of pregnancy, but past six weeks.

Daycare already cost her family nearly $900 a month, which she paid with earnings from her job at a big-box store. Infant care was expensive, she remembered telling her partner. She had applied for WIC benefits, but had been turned down.

Now these tear-jerker stories will start coming out.

Get the violins out and play them.

BTW I was watching some of the pro abortion protests they had this weekend. Women were shouting "WE WON'T GO BACK" and I'm like "You just did!".

What’s the racial breakdown of Memphis abortions?

Just asking to see if Nanzi Pelousy is a genocidal maniac.

One of the women in the article (looks like her pic is there) had 5 kids and apparantly wanted an abortion.

Are they rabbits?

Why can’t they just get fixed?

If she has five children home she probably knew how it happens and she probably knew she didn’t want any more. Great news there’s medication and surgical options to prevent pregnancy. I noticed it says “her partner” so she’s not married to any of the kids fathers.

How much sympathy am I supposed to have?

Her “partner”?

Not “her husband”?

Five kids already and she couldn’t have been bothered figuring out how to not get pregnant again?

And where is the liberal media at on the stories about the most vulnerable (babies) being dismembered?

Nowhere.

Baby? Not “I cannot have this lump of tissue”?

Assume she wasn’t the victim of rape or incest, so was she equally adamant when it came to having sex?

Or did this baby just magically appear our of nowhere?

I don’t get it either. Today’s women have 31 flavors of birth control yet she’s crying now that she had 5 kids and needs an abortion.

Seems a novel point of view, figuring 13-14% of the population gets around 40% of the abortions and little miss white bread is screeching bloody murder, along with celebrities and Dem men. Seems a bit odd but their favorite Commie Stalin would be proud of them. IMO

Sob stories, hard cases, and people that have made bad choices and have no intention of changing their ways. This is the emotional stock in trade for liberals who don't have the truth on their side and can't even muster up a rational argument in their own defense. At the same time, they completely refuse to even hear (let alone consider) the other side of the argument.

It's all emote, emote, emote. It works for most of these women and for men who think like these women.

Her “partner”?

Not “her husband”?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I gave that one some thought as I was reading this and it may be her husband. You know how the left hates the word “Husband” and “Wife” and on many court documents it’s been replaced with “Partner 1” and “Partner 2”. It may be the media’s way of saying “her Husband”.

If you “can’t” have a baby you shouldn’t be doing things that can cause you to get knocked up. Surely she has a friend that could tell her how one gets knocked up.

on many court documents it’s been replaced with “Partner 1” and “Partner 2”.

Well, if they want to be consistent about equality, they should come up with a different convention, as it is implied that "2" is inferior to "1". Maybe they can have "Partner 1" and "Partner A".
