Ian bombed so badly on the Joey Bishop Show (1967?) that she was in tears. Evidently some sort of electronic enhancement to her performance malfunctioned or just didn’t work so it was just her and her guitar and it was awful until she just stopped. Bishop comforted her on camera and made excuses to the audience. IIRC she was attempting “Society’s Child”
Having taught high school, that song really struck a chord with me after seeing what goes on. No way to fix it.
I think At Seventeen, hit home with an awful lot of kids.
It’s a cruel world in high school and there are many hurting kids going through that kind of rejection.
