No, abortion is not a federal issue. Congress should stay out of it.

Huh ? Due to Federalism and enumerated powers, Congress has absolutely no say in abortion.

I'm sure they could have thought of something short of a made-up right coming from the Supreme Court that would have dialed this all back.

Here' what I think is going to happen:

  1. The debates will begin in the several states, as the states grapple with the issue.
  2. The people will eventually clamor for a national solution after the states create a patchwork of different laws.
  3. Congress will be forced to come up with single uniform solution to abortion.
As long as Roe has been "settled law," it allowed the extremes to rule the middle. On the one hand was the "abortion any time" crowd that included day of birth (and sometimes the day after), and on the other hand was the "no abortion ever" under any circumstance group. Most people are somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

Pundits are saying that the people should decide, and they will at the state level. It's only after the states disagree that a national issue of conformity will arise, and that's where Congress can play a role. Congress can make uniform what the states have decided on.

She is spot on, now their will grass roots pressure at the state and local level and inspired and impassioned pro-lifers will be engaged at the local level because that is where the pressure will have it’s best effect. This will shatter the Democratic party.

No they can't.

As I said before because of Federalism and enumerated powers, the Federal Government has absolutely no say in the matter, and that in large part why "Roe" was overturned.

I remember when it was decided .. YEARS ago. The black girl in my office - smart, cute, and married into a prominent black family in NC - she came storming into work so angry that this was a way to KILL BLACK babies. She was so upset.

A some point in time she and other Dims change their minds.

I do not know how these Dims were able to come to terms with death of baby was ok Except sheeple mentality

What about my Second Amendment RIGHT TO CHOOSE to own an AR-15? The Senate and House are trampling all over that right as we speak. I have more of a right to own an AR than women have a right to kill their babies. Especially when the feminazis kill their baby as a political act to impress the girlfriends.

-- The problem has always been that the politicians have preferred to hide behind the Roe v. Wade ruling to electorally protect themselves, --

That's true in general.

POTUS runs campaign on tax and domestic policy, suggesting that he, not Congress is in charge of tax and domestic policy.

Administrative agencies are created and Congress delegates its power there. Don't like the oil exploiration policy? See Bureau of Land Management, we don't do that policy any more.

And as you well point out, social policy was taken up by SCOTUS. Well, now SCOTUS is showing signs of being tired of being the whipping boy for the legislature.

Still, people complain about Biden's inflation when Congress is the sole entity with the power to regulate the value of money.

You can take abortion out of the back alley, but you can’t take the back alley out of abortion.

Nothing more back alley than murdering a child in the womb for the sake of convenience.
