Works like a charm 👍
Next time bring a hemorrhoid cream with you, will stop the sting immediately.
I suspect the child was leaning over the fish to take a close look at it when it suddenly flopped up with the spike entering the child’s chest.
“Went right thru my flip-flop and into my foot!”
Yep I’ve heard of that.....ouch
Who knew there were venomous catfish?
Most anyone who goes fishing for catfish. If you don't know at first, you'll soon find out.
I haven’t heard of that before.
Damn! I’ve got to get that.
I’ve always just made mine out of a coat hanger....works fine.
Metal coat hanger that is.
“the patient in the next bay came in with a catfish stuck on his foot by the barb. I don’t know why he didn’t cut the fish off and just have the barb attached before he arrived. My brother said he thinks every doctor and nurse in the hospital had to “consult” on that treatment (i.e. look at the fish on the foot).”
Read online a story by a guy who was offshore fishing and got a large hook stuck thru his foot just after getting it out of a fish. Was not coming out without medical help.
Doctor at ER looks at foot and how thick the hook was, how big the barb, how thick the eyehole for the line, etc.
Calls up janitor and has him bring in a large pair of bolt cutters. Dr. starts to position cutters to remove barb etc. Guy looks at cutters with grease etc. on them and asks about sterilizing. Dr. says “you just injected yourself with fish guts and you are worried about a little grease?”
Literally venomous. Not just ugly and ill-tempered.

All of them are. Their fins are hollow. THEY have poison in them. You learn to stay away from the fins after the first time they fin you.
They know how to catch them. But they are crazy.
That is what it sounds like, a dorsal fin bone. The whiskers couldn’t do that.
The ones they catch while noodling are freshwater catfish, usually big females guarding their nest holes. Not fierce just really slippery.
Florida Africanized Beecatfish...the absolute worst when it comes to stingers.
And it’s bad, bad, Leroy Crab
The baddest crab in....
When fishing in the Gulf, we always threw the hardhead cats back - but yeah, getting them off the hook is when the trouble starts. Once, I had one flip upside down and shake off of the hook as I was reaching for it - he fell inverted and stuck me in the outside of my calf. Made a real bloody mess out of the boat.
