I really believe that proprietary software in vote tabulating machines is a terrible idea. There are many projects underway to develop Open Source tabulating software. With Open Source, everybody can audit the software being used and determine exactly what and how it is counting.

It should be illegal to use proprietary vote tabulating software in elections.
