beets increase nitric oxide levels. apparently the nitrates in beets do a better job of this than the l citrulline in watermellons.

Would you argue for a different explanation. That is would you say that beets/grapes/sour cherries/pine bark extract increase performance via a different pathway than nitric oxide?

Sour cherries, pine bark extract, and grapes had polyphenols that were found to directly help preserve the use of nitric acid.

They don't produce nitric acid.

The other items reviewed perform other functions that don't impact the isolated function of nitric acid.
