In February of 1978 I took a short walk down the middle of I-95 in Massachusetts with no arrest,no injuries. Of course it was a day or two after the Blizzard of '78 and every road in the state was closed and most of them (including I-95) were completely impassable.

It was a unique experience.

Back in the early 1950s some friends and I got to race our bicycles on the brand new Garden State Parkway, when the section in our neighborhood was complete but not yet opened.
