China has concerns that such cars could enter a military base, or really any other high-security location, and capture footage. The footage captured by Tesla's in-car camera systems can be stored locally and then shared. Moreover, Tesla's vehicles send data back to the cloud, which could be cause for concern.
We haven't heard much about the issue since Tesla's major concerns in China have seemed to subside. However, according to a recent report by Electrek, Tesla's vehicles are now banned from entering Beidaihe, a resort town near Shanghai. In fact, the town has banned all Tesla's EVs for the next two months due to concerns related to spying.
While Tesla has had its fair share of setbacks and issues in China, it's important to note that the company appears to have a successful relationship with the country and its leaders. Tesla is actually the first foreign carmaker to own its own factory in China that's not part of the usual joint-venture situation. In all other cases, China has required that outside automakers partner up with a local company to run a factory and sell cars.

Makes me wonder what restrictions we have or should have on US military installations for cars, phones, tablets, and other devices that share location, video, and other data, plus tracking people, groups of people, etc. I know of some, but haven’t heard about cars before.
The reason China is making this decision is because they are busy doing the exact same thing to us.
China’s lock downs are really about spy catching. Not about zero COVID policy. Everyone in Shanghai and Beijing. Gets tested every other day. Then they get a call and are told if they are positive. If yes, they go off to a retention center for 14 days at least. While there, their phone is registered. Their DNA is collected. And their homes are searched. They don’t feel bad. They don’t know that they have COVID. They are just told to get a test every few days. Then they are told to go to the center right away. A car comes to pick them up with 30 minute notice. This is not about pandemics. Its about registering every spy in China.
Notice how they are going after the capital ans major cities. They will go to the farms last. Spies don’t spy on farms.
Hmm, that is a good point (about American bases).
TiKTok and DJI drones are spying tools of China. And we don’t care one bit.
“Resort Town” worried about spying 🤪
But tik tok good 🙄

I was supposed to forget, but didn’t forget this part:
IBM Selectric Typewriters could be ‘decoded’ by monitoring the electric power lines supplying their installation.
But, no one ever put an antenna on my pencil to detect and interpret what I wrote with it.
