In practice, they are distinctions without differences, all authoritarian, in which individual rights are not unalienable bestowed by the Creator, but temporary indulgences granted by an otherwise oppressive, de facto one-party state.

Our constitutional republic worked very well in the first 75 years with no “monarchy” ruling over “one chosen sect”. In those days, all believed in and most practiced basic judeo/Christian morals and ethics. ( whether Protestant Christia, Catholic or Jewish). They had internal self discipline, therefore liberty within self imposed boundaries internal moral boundaries worked. That is what is needed, not a return to neo-feudal tyranny imposed by our so called “betters”.
Whoever wins the elections on the state and federal level. DeSantis runs Florida because that's who the people of Florida chose. Other states are run by very different governors because that's who their citizens chose. I've always, it's ultimately up to the voters in a democratic system. But because we put "individualism" on a pedestal and began to worship it, our nation has devolved into a roomful of spoilt, bratty and unruly children who must be managed by the "adults".
You've got it exactly backwards. The problem isn't too much individualism. The problem is we have too little individualism and too much collectivism. We have too many citizens in this country who think they know what is best for everyone else, and are entitled to force other people to comply with their desires. So, they vote for politicians who share those views and will implement those policies.
Blaming the politicians is confusing the cause with the effect. The problem isn't the politicians - it is the people who vote for them.

According to Democrats, we must help maintain the grip of this 2% oligarchy on our lives or we will lose “democracy.” The Democrats increasingly use the power of wealthy celebrities to connect with the masses and prolong the deception.
The first thread I posted on FR over twenty years ago was the Chapter/Essay from Russell Kirk called the “Errors of Ideology” wherein he warned away from the inverted religion that “a simple saving truth” [ideology] can be found that if we just adhere to this solution all will be saved.
It is a great read why theories such as this in the article are simplified pablum that hopes to save us from the hard work of detailed self government and the hard work of throwing off tyranny.

Plus, if they controlled all the other elections, they'd already have all the machinery in place. Why not just make absolutely sure that Hillary was going to win? World-dominating oligarchs who are that dumb, and that sloppy, don't seem like much of a threat to anyone.
