A classic that couldn't be made today, especially with the smoking.
Different times.

Love Lucy!!
I was born in 1963, started watching the reruns in 1974...
I have the entire I Love Lucy collection on DVD.
I met her in 1985 at a Q&A at the Claremont Colleges in California.
I am now 59 and I never tire of the humor. This episode is in my top 10...
We love you Lucy!!

The show itself invented the sitcom.

This is somewhat off topic, but wasn’t it Lucy who green lighted, Star Trek TOS, at Desilu.

Yes, but for her, Star Trek likely would not exist.
She personally overrode her own board of directors twice to greenlight the project.

There were other sitcoms on television before that show, and sitcoms were also on the radio before TV was ever a thing.

Wonderful. We watch the reruns all the time

Not quite. There were sitcoms on radio long before "I Love Lucy", including Lucille Ball's "My Favorite Husband". "Burns and Allen", "Amos and Andy", "The Aldrich Family", "Lum 'n' Abner", "Fibber McGee and Molly", "Duffy's Tavern" could all qualify as humorous sitcoms.
In television, "I Love Lucy" is predated by "Burns and Allen", "The Aldrich Family" and "The Goldbergs" (plus a lot of REALLY obscure shows that came and went)

I discovered Fibber McGee and Molly a few years ago. Really very funny stuff and great radio actors. I recommend.

What a beautiful, classy, funny lady she was.
And SMART to boot!
Desi was an idiot for letting her get away.

100% agree!
I am not sure if you saw it, but on Amazon Prime there is an amazing documentary on Lucy and Desi... Shows many real interviews, audio clips and unique facts that I never heard of before.
Desi truly loved her, but his “addictions” sadly got in the way...

She did it in one take, live, I believe. She obviously rehearsed prior but one take.
