If you interview any successful black businessman or engineer or doctor, I can guarantee that the majority of them had a mother that pushed this person to stay in school and have a desire to go to college and get out of the “hood”. How many times on shows that a black person won something or achieved some sort of fame, they thank their mothers for keeping them on the straight and narrow. Even when they are from broken homes. I believe that the black “family” is in need of getting back to a mother and a father in the home though.
From what I’ve heard, it’s usually the grandmother that does the actual child rearing in so many cases. She often gets the credit too.
