I ran into this several times over the years fact when I was younger and a little more mischievous I used to take my paycheck and Susan B Anthony’s and two dollar bills
I was speaking to a veterinarian neighbor who was throwing out her “junkmail”. In my mail, which had just arrived, a $2 bill could be seen through the envelope’s large window.
Half-dollars are the usual “tease” to open one’s junk mail.
Contribute to conservative causes and eventually you’ll see 2 bills arriving in the mail. Was it Huckabee?
You should’ve tried paying with a 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 Nigerian bill. And asked for change after the po-po hung up on the clerk. :-)
I was at Costco and off course got stuck behind some lady that paid for her fully loaded cart with cash.
At the very end was a $2 bill. The check out person (20-something guy) wouldn’t take it and she told him what it was. He called over a manager to check. “Yeah - it’s a $2 bill. Ring her up and get her out of here.”
I have a bag with about $20 of dollar coins that got wet rolling around on the floor of my old truck in their cardboard tube. They are all corroded (copper?). I need to get to the bank and hope they’ll take them.
Last time I was at the bank and needed to see a teller it was a 50 minute wait!
I used to get a lot of 2 dollar bills in my pool hall/bar. We had a customer who was a stripper, and the club she worked in gave 2 dollar bills as change whenever possible, to ensure that the tips that strippers got were more than 1 dollar.
Restaurant by us gives crisp new $2 bills sa change. Love giving them out and watching the expressions on their dumb faces when I hand them one.
“All of the Coke machines and other mechanized vending machines were reset for those abominable coins”
Not all machines...I was stationed in Hawaii, and the machines recognized the Suzie B as a quarter! The soda vending company was in hot water...corrupt.
2 buck bills are pretty rare...
I’ve got a small stack of them around here somewhere. All brand new. I give them to the neighbor kids when they help me with chores.
The $2 bill has Jefferson’s image on it. My daughter lives in Charlottesville, VA, Jefferson’s hometown.
The lefty’s there, (Just about everyone) are frantically trying to erase Thomas Jefferson from the face of the earth.
Next time I go, I’m going to pay for everything with $2 bills.
Wow.
Adjusted for inflation, that’s like, what, $3.00 profit? :-/
When my kids were little, I’d tell ‘em to save pennies they found lying around (my son got into the habit of looking around the cash registers at the grocer’s) saying “hang on to those, they may be worth something someday”.
Copper washed zinc? Not likely.
A Walmart shopper got taken all the way to the police station before a 50 year-old desk sergeant chewed out the 25 year-old arresting officer.
Number 1: That is what the shopper gets for shopping at Walmart. That being said, I hope the shopper gets a good lawyer, or at least , a hungry one, and separates Walmart from a lot of their dollars.
After a year of living on base, I was allowed to move off base, and lived in Traben-Trarbach for nearly 4 years. Obviously, the Susan B's weren't of much use in German establishments.
I also learned to keep a 20DM bill in my wallet, for the rare occasion when the Polizei caught me speeding. I paid the fee, and got back on the road. I thought that was awesome, there was no reporting to my insurance company.
he’s my fave founding father. Pro-state’s rights as it should be and to rebel against your own govt when needed. Hamilton is a clown and thank God he was not on Rushmore.
I was Navy active duty on a carrier, 1960-62. Got paid every two weeks. When on our Med cruise, about half our pay was with $2 bills.
That was well before 1975-76.
They get a really strange look and then just stand there!
LOL
