If so, that’s like going up a 5,000 foot high staircase.
“Steps” are forward steps, i.e., walking. It’s all the fad to count daily steps.
In the old days, you’d put a mechanical pedometer on your ankle to count steps and distance. Now your phone does it for you (as long as you are carrying it).
It is amazing what MEMS accelerometers can do.
It takes me about an hour and fifteen minutes of walking each day to reach 10,000 steps. Not necessarily all at once. I find myself parking in the far corner of store parking lots so I can get extra steps in. Much less stressful than jockeying for a space close to the store and then dealing with getting your car dinged and having people constantly walking behind you (as you are trying to back out).
I'm always looking for ways to increase my daily walking. Keeps me healthy.
10,000 steps is roughly 4.7 miles for me. It varies on your stride length.
