Here I agree with you.
metmom,
I’m really surprised at you, thinking this ill of me. Of course, I believe in Matthew 5, but I also know that we live in a fallen world, and I don’t expect non-Christians to act like Christians.
Would I have stopped eating peanuts? Yes.
But would I as a parent of a highly allergic child expect the plane to be completely uncontaminated by peanuts from the current or previous passengers on the plane? No, and I would take precautions to keep my child safe.
maybe airlines should book allergy free flights for certain individuals instead of inconveniencing everyone else that paid full price to fly without hassles...
We can argue over nonsense, but i'm not seeing a whole lot we can do about the communists yet. It's too early to start shooting them, so we might as well have fun until the flag drops.
“ My understanding is that even those folks who have severe peanut allergies actually have to ingest the proteins in peanuts to trigger a physical response.”
I was a disbeliever, having been practically raised on peanut butter much like most other kids of my day. A friend told me her daughter was so allergic to peanuts they could not go in to one of the chain restaurants where you throw peanut shells on the floor as she would have a life threatening reaction. I guess that was from dust in the air. I was ready to call BS on the ten rows away business until I remembered that. I don’t believe airlines even serve them anymore. He must have brought his own.
If a child is so horribly allergic that someone else simply opening a bag of nuts can kill her, then the parents are fully, completely and totally at fault for putting their child at risk in this situation.
There are setups, that aren’t terribly expensive, that such persons can wear that filter the air and protect them.
Powered air respirators don’t even have the CO2/CO build up issues that standard masks have.
And there’s examples of home built units that cost less than a hundred bucks to make. Just get a filter suitable to the need.
There’s no excuse for this crap. the parents should be taken out and beaten.
Well the way this story has been presented is; "THIS GIRL WILL *DIE* iF THAT MAN DOESN'T STOP EATING PEANUTS!!!!!!"
If that impression is accurate, I can't see why they didn't take the bag away from him.
We are all working from minimal and possibly inaccurate knowledge here. We have to give our best guess with this limited information.
As I see it, the mom was reckless. Or we can just call her stupid. I wouldn’t blame the peanut guy for wanting to enjoy a pack of peanuts. But he was told twice of the apparent danger.
Notice that I said “apparent”. Maybe there really was no danger to the girl. But why take that chance? Why risk killing someone? For what? You’re not defending the Alamo. It’s just a bag of peanuts.
Mom: reckless, boarding on stupid
Peanut guy: selfish, bordering on evil
Found the micro penis.
And for the record, I have a few medical issues. Fortunately, none of them require people to provide special accommodations for me.
And the only things that have prevented me from having a full life were the lockdowns, mask tyrants, and vaxx jerks.
Well, zip up your pants and don't tell anyone, miss Tranny Air Waitress.
Here’s a video one of the passengers took of the peanut eater and the flight crew interaction. Very interesting.

A fair assessment.
They look liked good burgers too.
Oh, I am all woman but I see where your mind and desires go, Mr. Teenie Peenie.
I agree with you about the schmuck. Could be the eater or the victim in this case. Need more info
Asking someone to not eat peanuts is a “hassle”????
It’s a minor inconvenience at best, at least for the person snacking.
For that allergic individual who also has as much a right to live and do everything others can, it was a matter of life and death, more than an inconvenience.
Having peanut free flights is an option. Or perhaps, having a few flights a day allowing peanuts and the rest banned.
Five Guys also fries their french fries in peanut oil, so it’s more than the peanuts on the floor.
Th e oil would be airborne as well.
It would be dangerous for you to enter there.
FWIW, I think they are over priced.
I assumed that was an established norm by now. I don’t fly often, but I can’t remember it being an issue since I was very little.
Maybe they thought a scuffle would just disperse the peanut stuff even more; and maybe he had presented an attitude that suggested a scuffle might happen.
As you say, we don’t have enough information.
