A couple whose marriage proposal was soured by an overzealous Disney employee have received a fulsome apology from operators of the Paris, France, outlet who expressed “regret” over the incident.
A viral video that appeared on Reddit last week showed a man taking a knee as he proposed to his girlfriend. In the background is one of the film franchise’s iconic castles.
Mid-proposal, an officious employee sprinted up and snatches the ring box out of the man’s hands and ushers the couple off the platform.
“She said yes,” the husband-to-be says as he exits the platform.
“Yes, that’s great, but over here will be even better,” the employee responds.
In the corner of the video, another staff member can also be seen gesturing to the couple and asking them to move on.
Onlookers immediately began to boo the employee. while others went to social media to express their shock at the moment.
In the comments of the Reddit post – where the video was originally shared – users lashed the Disneyland employee for his interruption.
“He didn’t just motion him down, the employee snatched the wedding ring out of his hands. That’s pretty high on my list of things to not touch,” read one comment.
“Trying to figure out if dude was happier enforcing rules or ruining moment. He was legitimately happier for ruining the moment,” wrote another.

I used to think they picked June because the weather was nice enough to parade about in their revealing costumes. Now, now I beleive they picked it because it is the most common month for heterosexual unions and they wanted to poke a stick in our eyes.
I have been to France and all around the world. They are hands down the rudest and most unwelcoming people in the world. Why Disney would build a theme park there is beyond me.
Yep. Like I said, gays are a hateful and especially spiteful lot.
I almost posted that I hoped he got “reamed” for his actions. But on second though I realized that the term “reamed” may be mistaken as a reward in his case.
HOWEVER,....
The couple never should have gone on stage (restricted area) to do this.
I do think if this was ‘another type’ of couple the employee would have minced on over and congratulated them...
It’s Pride Month. Can’t have straight people proposing to each other at Disneyland.
He will probably get two gerbils with his paycheck this week as a bonus.
Both of my WWII ETO uncles were in Paris shortly after its liberation, and had leave there into 1946. They were not fans. On the other hand, they both thought that the "provincial" French were okay. Twenty years later, another (younger) uncle went to Europe for the summer, and came back with the same attitude about France.
All three advised the rest of the family to avoid the urban areas of Europe insofar as possible.
I am all for following the rules of the park, someone gets hurt it for being in an authorized space, it could be millions. That said, it was clear this couple was not in danger and this gay disney employee could have waited. He had absolutely no right to grab the ring from the guys hand. That action should have been met with a fist to his face.
“The couple never should have gone on stage (restricted area) to do this”
“The man proposing marriage to his girlfriend reportedly asked permission from a park employee before mounting a platform in front of Cinderella’s Castle to pop the question”
If this had been two gay men the employee would have run to get them flowers.
Disney sucks. Everything about Disney sucks.
Yeah, am not normally o the look-out for such things, but at that page, the disproportion is overwhelming.
13% of the population - but 87% of the images.
