Ohio lawmakers advance trans sports ban with genital check

Fri, June 3, 2022, 2:10 PM·1 min read (Reuters) - Ohio's House of Representatives passed a bill that would ban transgender girls from school sports and require verification from a doctor if a student's sex is called into question.

The provision was a last-minute addition to an unrelated bill that passed in a marathon session late on Wednesday, the first day of Pride month. The bill next goes to a vote in the state Senate when it reconvenes in several months after a recess.

I assume most youth sports require a birth certificate to keep 12 year olds out of the under 10 teams. Look at birth sex as well as birth day.

If we allow boys to decide they are girls, the same logic allows a 15 eat old kid to declare they are only 9. Even a poor 15 year old can strike out the side when facing 9 year olds.

This law would have no impact on NCAA competitions. State of Ohio doesn’t have jurisdiction over the NCAA

The state of Ohio has jurisdiction over sports and everything else in Ohio.
You want to compete in Ohio, you'd better obey the law.
Just last week, the Special Olympics were forced to reverse their rule banning non vexed from competing, when DeSantis laid down the law.

OK sport. Let’s go down that road. Let’s say there is some sort of tournament taking place in Ohio, and one of the coaches on the opposing team says, “I don’t believe any of them. I want them all checked.” The girls would then all be obligated to undergo vaginal inspections to make sure they are in fact females. And this would have to be done by a doctor, because there are operations then can make a male who wants to have his Willie chopped off try to look like a female. And a doctor would be necessary to tell the difference and make sure it is in fact a real vagina. This is the road you wanna go down?
