The gays don’t seem to die from this disease but they do suffer.
Initially they did but treatments were developed at the speed of light which prolonged their lives. I remember seeing (on occasion) men that were obviously eat up with the virus. Walking skeletons. Even in my small podunk town, a couple of them died from the disease.
