In my small town, there are numerous small farms.
I can’t wait until their produce is up and running
and ready to sell!
Some of them even have an “honor system” where you
take your produce, and put the money in a small box that has a “mail slot” on the top,
The prices are listed, and you pay accordingly.
I have never heard of a theft problem here.
I’ve no doubt that the small farms have cameras watching what goes on!
My home town is well known for being armed, and have been for some time!
I watch the sales for meat very closely, and buy it in bulk
whenever we can.
Then Mr. B and I “process” it together.
We wrap the meat in freezer paper, and then place that into zip lock bags, and then into small labelled boxes that are tightly sealed.
The boxes are from Omaha steaks that had their products in them.
Since their meat is (was) hermetically sealed, nothing has
ever leaked out of them, so the boxes remain free of any germs.
We the list what we have packaged on a clip board next to the freezer. This system has worked great for us for many years!
We do the clip board, on the freezer system, too!
But….I’m guilty of not keeping it current :-(
What a blessing to have so many small farms, close by. And, that you know them/they know you.
I just bought a 4 # of strawberries that I need to dehydrate.
Great How our locals do try take care of one another while our government makes it harder to just live day to day!
Amazing love and sharing is among us all.
I do the same thing with meat, except I don’t have the boxes. I keep a list too because otherwise I don’t have a clue have!
I love the honor System you have. Coupled with being heavily armed :-)
And I like your clipboard idea. I have a spreadsheet for all the other food I have stored, I don’t know why I never thought about it for the freezer. I just have a small diagram showing what is on what Shelf. And I’m sure it has changed by now.
