Seems a little like making a documentary about the British Invasion and turning down the Beatles and the Stones.

I first saw that film only a couple of years ago. That scene with Townes and Seymour really left an impression on me.
Earle looked like the kid just getting to eat at the adult table at Thanksgiving in one scene.
I’m a great fan of this music, and any movement away from Nashville, NY, or LA is generally good for the arts. Support your local music scene, and feed a songwriter!

Heartworn Highways, the cult-classic 1976 documentary about the outlaw country music scene

Just watched Echo in the Caynon (2018) about the 1966 - 68 ish Folk rock "era" around Laurel Canyon. I found it quite entertaining.
