It doesn’t seem safe to just abandon it willy nilly if they can link it down the line to a site that’s important. I don’t use it for email but to use it to sign in to other sites. That’s the big concern.

Probably goes without saying that this was dumb. IF i were you I'd go to every website where I have an account and change your passwords.

Yes, I’m stupid.

How do you get anywhere in 2022 without giving strangers your email, date of birth, social security number, home address, phone number, mother’s maiden name, where you went to school, your favorite ice cream flavor, your dog’s name, place of employment, etc.? I figured a yahoo email with fictitious creds would be a bit safer than handing over my social security number.
