The Washington State Patrol says drivers are increasingly refusing to stop for troopers - and other law enforcement agencies also say this is becoming a common occurrence.
The Northwest News Network reports that from January 1 to May 17 of this year, the agency logged 934 failure-to-yield incidents. While the patrol didn’t track this in the past, veteran troopers say there’s been a dramatic uptick in drivers fleeing traffic stops.
“Something’s changed. People are not stopping right now,” said Sgt. Darren Wright, a WSP spokesperson with 31 years on the job. “It’s happening three to five times a shift on some nights and then a couple times a week on day shift.”
Local police departments are also seeing this behavior. The Puyallup Police Department logged 148 instances of drivers fleeing from officers from July 26, 2021 to May 18, 2022.
Asked if that represents a significant increase, Chief Scott Engle wrote in an email, “I could 1,000,000% say this is completely absolutely emphatically totally unusual.”
Gee, could it be that when the lunatic asylum legislature passed a law last July limiting police ability to chase people, maybe the people found out and decided they don’t need to stop?
Naaah, that couldn’t possibly be it.
They have construction zone speed cameras raising money for “safety” near us.
It’s very public information that the camera shoots at 12 mph over the posted limit, thus, everyone drives 10 over.
There’s also a no pursuit rule for motorcycles here in Maryland. Guess what? Crotch Rockets riders drive at whatever speed they wish, pass on the shoulder and lane split knowing their chances of getting caught are nil.
The principle is the same here.
> That’s when they’ll power up federal policing, and at that point, chaos and “not stopping” won’t be an option. <
Yep. Lenin and Stalin just loved chaos when the tsar was in power. Challenge authority!
But as soon as they took over, anyone who challenged authority was a “wrecker”. Wreckers got shot or sent off to Siberia.
This is something all starry-eyed college leftists need to consider.
Short of a true unifying leader, that seems to be where we are headed.
Washington State has Police ?
We are already seeing consequences. Besides increased murders killing urban blacks, traffic fatalities among urban blacks after the Feast Day of St. Floyd are up >30% from prior to May 2020.
When departments implement a “no pursuit” policy that is supposedly geared towards lowering risks to innocent bystanders from high speed pursuits through densely populated streets, then guess what happens when the bad guys find out about the policy?
“..ANTIFA state, what did they expect? /s....”
My son’s company was leasing an upper floor of a high-rise building. Antifa burned out the bottom floor making the building unusable. His company was capable of going remote...which they did. As soon as he was classified as “permanently remote” employee, he and his family immediately sold their home in Bonney Lake, packed up and moved to Katy, TX.
They finally had enough of the utter woke BS up there and got out while the getting out was good.
You guys stood down while spoiled, obnoxious zillennials burned and trashed cities.
This is your reward. This is what you helped to create while enabling the Obiden Wrecking Crew.
Just maybe there are less State of WA motor-vehicle drivers, and more Washington State automobile travelers.
If you completely own your automobile, do not engage in commerce, you can exercise your right to free travel on public roads without engagement or infringement from Police (revenue-generating policy enforcement). As long as you do not harm another human, you are free from bylaws and codes and ordinances to travel anywhere in your private property unmolested.
I wouldn’t stop for a social worker either.
“with their thumbs up their a**es”
Poorly put. They’re doing what they’re told to do.
Maybe the Patrol should examine the woke gov’t of Wa.
Isn't that the truth? How can they destroy the nation and expect to live in a nice place?
I would not stop for anyone in washington state.
Wrecking (Russian: вредительство or vreditel'stvo, lit. "inflicting damage", "harming") was a crime specified in the criminal code of the Soviet Union in the Stalin era. It is often translated as "sabotage"; however, "wrecking", "diversionist acts", and "counter-revolutionary sabotage" were distinct sub-articles of Article 58 (RSFSR Penal Code) (58-7, 58–9, and 58-14 respectively), and the meaning of "wrecking" is closer to "undermining".That is an apt description of where we are headed.
The cops have no respect for the law, why should we? They stood around watching Trump supporters take beatings leaving Trump rallies.
Cops stood there watching supporters in a blue lives matter march get harassed, spit on, and pushed around.
Poorly put. They’re doing what they’re told to do.

Washington state police oath:
I [NAME], do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America and the State of Washington, and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully, and that I will obey the orders of the Governor and the State of Washington and the officers appointed over me, according to law and the rules and regulations of the State Patrol and that I will uphold the Constitution of the United States and the State of Washington.
you’d almost think people have lost respect for the police.
And some people will wonder why
“a few well publicized pitting maneuvers”
The cops can’t do that kind of thing unless the person is recklessly endangering others, because to do a pit maneuver on a public road itself can endanger others. So as long as the person just doesn’t stop, and continues driving normally, the police kind of have their hands tied.
I suppose the police can just follow them until they stop or run out of gas, but the police probably are going to get a more important call before that happens.
Police have the plate number that night call tow trucks void drivers license problem solved.
Leave note don’t call we’ll call you why we did it.
