Yes, that can help particularly when the existing wiring is thin, causing excess resistive loss. Good LED lights will maintain constant current to the LED(s) themselves, unless the feed is really bad. Incandescent elements self regulate somewhat, but not as well.

Course though, LED’s are more subject to failure from voltage spikes. (Please nobody start a EMP discussion here. Hahaha!)
