Like I said, tunnel vision. A hundred million people if not many more live in huge apartment and condo buildings and high-rise structures. Maybe each can hang a solar panel out a window! And homeowners with a quarter acre? Most have little desire to generate electricity at home and even less would know how and be willing to maintain a system.
It’s fine to be enthusiastic but you need to get serious in your thinking, pal.

You are all over the place. First you argue that keeping a car running will be the least of my worries, then you make the issue about what a hundred million other people are doing, are capable of doing, or will do. That has nothing to do with me.
If you have something against EVs and solar, feel free to do whatever you want. I do not at all feel compelled to convince you otherwise.
Thanks, I’ve been reading about the system. I’m sure it does good overall, but owners complain about $2500 repair bills. I don’t see why it would be so difficult to hack the second NOX sensor if you had no DEF.
NOX sensors have a circuit board which sends data to the ECM, unlike every other sensor on the truck which just varies the current sensed by the ECM and lets the ECM decide what it means. No simple way to hack that. On some trucks you can reprogram what the ECM does when the truck derates. For example, instead of limiting the speed to 5 mph limit it instead to 95 mph. You used to be able to just pull the outlet NOX sensor out and let it breath fresh air. They got wise to that though.
Our JD tractors just stop if they run out of DEF. It’s another stupid “improvement” for the climate. Facepalm.
