RIP Mr. Fletcher, but really the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Depeche Mode was a one hit wonder in 83.
You must not know their discography if you believe that.
“One hit wonder?”
What the Hell are you talking about?
One Hit Wonder in 1983???
While I agree their early 80’s stuff was their best stuff, their US hits were much later:
“Enjoy the Silence,” No. 8, July 14, 1990
“People Are People,” No. 13, Aug. 3, 1985
“Policy of Truth,” No. 15, Oct. 20, 1990
“Personal Jesus,” No. 28, March 3, 1990
“It’s No Good,” No. 38, June 7, 1997
“Strangelove,” No. 50, Oct. 22, 1988
“World In My Eyes,” No. 52, Dec. 22, 1990
“I Feel You,” No. 37, March 13, 1993
“Route 66/Behind the Wheel,” No. 61, May 21, 1988
“Never Let Me Down Again,” No. 63, Feb. 13, 1988
Hardly. If you haven’t listened to them since 1983, you’ve missed out on their best work. The Violator (1990) and Ultra (1997) albums were both brilliant from start to finish.
They were bigger in the UK and Europe, but even in the US they had at least 10 songs in the Hot 100.
You obviously don’t listen to Depeche Mode.
