Monkeypox is endemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I have done work there they also have endemic Ebola in the Eastern part of the DRC. it is recommended that if you live or work in the DRC you get a smallpox vaccine as it protects against it’s cousin monkeypox which is actually from rodents not monkeys it made the jump from monkeys to humans in the DRC first but the natural reservoir is rodents who carry the virus but don’t die from it. SCIENCE! And you learn something everyday or at least should.
