I’m old enough to remember when Dominos was the lower priced Pizza, it was not considered to be nearly as good as Pizza Hut.

While I never was lucky enough to eat a NY slice, we always liked Shakeys pizza, a chain pizzaria that was pretty good. That was the lament back then - “I wish Shakey’s had delivery!!”

Pizza isn’t rocket science, I think a big part of the decline is cheaping out on ingredients. The markup has always been high. I can still make a HUGE pizza at home for probably 5 bucks.

Letting the dough age for a day or two makes a big difference in flavor, the crust itself is really important overall to a pizza, in my opinion. 50 percent? I think Shakey’s aged their dough, used lots of garlic and parmesan. And it smelled awesome when walking in to their restaurants. Great place for people to work, too.

Yep. Pizza Hut used to be better. Now Dominos is superior. Okay Dominos is not all that but you can say the same about McDonalds. It's consistent. So you know what you're getting. All other pizza chains taste like cardboard now. Papa John's used to be pretty good but it sucks now.
