Toomey sounded good in the early years I wonder what happened to him
He was a darling of the tea party. I wasn't sold on him since I have been politically minded all my life. I have a severe libertarian bent. Read that as freedom and liberty above all else. Toomey didn't pass the sniff test with me. He never sounded like freedom was a priority. He thought government solved problems. I think a lack of government solves problems. The last thing I want to hear is how government is going to help. I want to hear about how government gets out of the way for people to thrive.
The tea party movement had a downside: a lot of neophytes without political and economic principles got involved for the first time. Geez, that sounds so establishment like, but it not meant to be. It means that a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon because they were fed up with Democrats. I am afraid the same thing is happening with the MAGA movement. Many MAGA people look for government to solve problems. It is also indicative in MAGA policies. All we have gotten is more government and larger budgets. Both of those need to go in the opposite direction. MAGA is on the cusp of great success or great failure. It all hinges on less government. In my book that means radical cuts in budgets and shuttering of entire agencies.
Deep State advice, money and power, got to him.
