I dropped eating fast food a long time ago. Now if I go out to eat, I just go to places where I know the staff. Of course it’s a little difficult when traveling. I just stay real picky about where I go when I do.
BINGO. I do this with all service transactions to the fullest extent possible. Societal trust is, IMHO, decaying rapidly, encouraged by gutter-culture, tangentially by our financial/monetary system - and even specifically politics and politicians.
Like you, I get things from trusted places.
There are only a few.
When I travel I shop at grocery store deli’s sections. I rarely eat road food anymore.
