I think it was a better place when there was no technology as we understand it today. I remember as a kid my dad always made sure I had a couple of dimes in my pocket in case I had to call home. Maybe Archie Bunker was right.

Archie Bunker was right. That was the beauty of the show. The dummies producing it thought they were telling a different story, and the joke is on them.
