Good. Teachers need to re-learn the concept of proper boundaries. Your students don’t need to hear about your personal life PERIOD (they are not your peers and you are not there to make friends with them), and you are under no obligation to have personal “conversations” with them, even if initiated by them.

If I read this correctly, his/her/their/its response to the inquiry should have been, "this is not an appropriate discussion for the classroom, now open your math books to page 118....". End of discussion.

And you should be. Allowing a discussion of your being bisexual and asking the students to carry the subject to the levels you did made you not only incompetent, but possible criminal. These kids are 10 to 14 years old in Florida middle schools. They are in the beginning stages of gender growth which should not be influenced by sources that it is none of their business or they re qualified to address.
The proper answer to any of the questions she could have received is talk to your parents or to the doctor recognized by your family with your parents. The teacher is far from an authority on the topic and this stage in a child’s life should not be handled with someone not trained in the field.

A different melding of her professional and personal lives than teachers practice today.
