The purpose of the cease fire is to allow the heavy weapony, all stuck in the far west of Ukraine (the part that Poland will be taking) and they are simply UNABLE to move it to the combat zones without getting decimated. Austin, of course, won’t say that, but Russia knows the game...so he’s wasting his time.
Maybe General Milley can call his Chinese counter-part, and ask them if Xi will call Putin, and tell him to take Austin's call.
