No prescription needed to the best of my knowledge.
Amazon has a pretty good selection of them.
A decent one will probably run you at least $30.
You will also need a lancing device and lancets to prick
your finger to get a drop of blood to put on the test strip
that is inserted into the meter.
And you will also need sterile alcohol swabs/wipes.
So what you need is:
1. The glucometer
2. And the proper test strips for it
3. A lancing device
4. And the proper lancets for it
5. Sterile alcohol swabs
.
You can get all of this stuff at a local drugstore, like Walgreens.
You can also save a couple of bucks by getting the stuff
from Amazon - but I do NOT recommend trying to get the
alcohol swabs from them - takes weeks or even months to
get them delivered. I have no idea why.
I'm pretty sure that you do NOT need a prescription for any of this.
I'm not a doctor, just a 57 year old man who has had
Type 2 diabetes for over a dozen years. So I know a bit
about this stuff. More than I wish I needed to.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about
blood sugar testing supplies to help out a fellow Freeper -
to the best of my ability.
Good Luck, Madam!
Thank you. I will check in to it.
“you will also need sterile alcohol swabs/wipes.”
I just wash my hands well per the Agamatrix recommendation. I’ve never used an alcohol swab. Seems to work fine.
