I’ve lived here since 1969, that’s 85% of my life and I’ve seen plenty of storms. It doesn’t have to be a hurricane....tropical storms and depressions are enough, and can spin off tornadoes with little warning.
Have ever experienced 90+ mph sustained winds? If not I can assure you it’s an overrated experience.
Having made a living in aviation maintenence for almost 40 years the golden rule was never leave any loose ends or anything incomplete. Check recheck and check it again to the point of being OCD.......after so many years I guess it’s permanently ingrained. I just like to be prepared.

I’ve been through several hurricanes and many tornados. No biggie. My house was in the direct path of michael on 2018. Massive damage al around but yhose come once in 45 years.
