If you are fasting heavily for some time, your going to shed muscle as well as fat.
If you fast intermittently, and eat very well in between, and you're are very deliberate about regaining your strength but not over-training, it's possible to keep muscle mass and strength, but your recovery times are NOT going to be better.
Unless, you're special coffee is ... "special"
