I used to work in an environment that was about 90% women. We had this happen to us—where several were pregnant at the same time.

I love babies. But, it was a logistical nightmare. Having that many women, in the same job, going out within five or six weeks of each other...we had to hire replacements and get them trained. Then, expect that at some point we would catch up through attrition.

It cost the company a small fortune.

Five or six weeks? That’s less than proud non-birthing partners get these days! Think more in the lines of five to six months for birthers.

Your post hit a nerve with me because I had similar situation in my workplace. Several women, two of them in management positions, took maternity leave around the same time. We couldn't replace them so everybody else had to pick up the slack. It was a bit chaotic at times and with some key leadership positions vacated, all those employees had to report to somebody else temporarily.

Then when they started returning from maternity leave, their minds could never be completely focused on the job again. Who could blame them, with infants and toddlers in day care? They had to constantly come in late, leave early or leave abrubtly for any emergency that came up. They are highly stressed people.

This is all a product of the women's lib "you can have it all" mentality.

Well this might look good on a bumper sticker but it does not seem like a great situation for the women actually "having it all."

They should be home with their kids. That would truly be "having it all" in my opinion.

Surely, by now, the doors have been removed from your storage closets?
