He didn’t have much available to choose from - and he was new to the game.
Thought he was dealing with people who loved their country more than politics.
It’s projection- you tend to think others are like yourself
Liars tend to think everyone else is a liar.
Good people tend to think everyone else is good people.
But when he ran, he said he knew how to fight everyone. He’s not an idiot, he hired what he wanted.
I was once more hard on Trump for his picks, but realized two important points. In the first place, he had literally thousands of positions to fill. He can only "vet" very, very few of them. that's why Political parties developed - as deep farm teams for the big league system of patronage and graft.
And also, as part of this - Trump had no choice. For most key positions - he needed to worry about Senate confirmation. Like the KGB in the Soviet Union, the whole deep state and McConnell would NEVER allow anyone from outside the deep state in an important post.
Trump was successful in that he proved to all Americans the deep state exists, and runs Fed.gov. No one doubts that now. He also proved the hypocrisy and corruption of the media. We can thank him for that too.
You nailed it, Mr. K.
Shame so many, many on here, still can’t see what he was up against. The man couldn’t be the CEO, COO, CFO, the entire batch of Senior VPs and in this case, the Director of Human Resources, all while trying to cut taxes, get rid of the AHA, renegotiate trade deals, ACTUALLY and FINALLY bring Peace to the Middle East, rebuild the military, try to get us out of wars and war zones, SECURE THE BORDER AND END THE REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT SCAM....all of that with NO help from the Republicans in Congress.
Concur.
