They’re not supposed to be apparent at all and most of the time they aren’t. They are stealth. From other accounts of orbs, they pass through solid mass, which indicates they are energy and have no mass.
Personally, I suspect (if they are real) that they are ubiquitous. No one can see them 99%+ of the time. They gather data. The description in this story made it seem as though it was passively watching deck operations but the other feeling I gather from orb stories is that they might be looking for specific individuals. Like, checking up on their location and condition.
That is probly a direct violation of the CO’s orders. Official logs dont get pages ripped out of them without someone getting court martialed.
Because they have evolved beyond conventional light shows...

16 hour shifts....BS. Four hours on the bridge is the standard. Anything else causes huge attention span issues. Been there, done that on several CVNs.
