All federal judges and justices have Marshalls guarding them 24/7. I’ve known two personally. They also are automatically allowed to carry once becoming a federal judge. Most judges, federal and state, carry. Their security is probably as good as the President’s.

Then how did this happen? This federal judge was the target and home at the time. No protective detail for them.
