Bear’s just protecting his house.
I agree with you, I carry in case I need it, and hope I don’t have to use it.
Grizzly bears are never friendly.
They might be tolerant, curious, not overly excited, or down right dangerous.
But calling them friendly is just foolish.
Plenty of reasons to kill a bear.
Meat, hide, they are causing problems, the fun of the hunt.
I have killed 10’s of thousands of critters.
Doesn’t brother me a bit.
Matter of fact 99% of the time I have enjoyed it.
Back in the 90s and early 2000s, when I had my Nursery/Garden Center & LSCP Contracting Business, I shot dozens of destructive groundhogs, and rightly so. Since retiring and selling the property in 2012, I have no reason to and, after reflecting upon the deaths of Family, Friends, Pets etc etc, I’m not inclined to do so, unless absolutely necessary.
Now, leftists/communists/socialists/marxists/anarchists etc are another matter... SPJNK.
Still wouldn’t want to explain smoking a bear in a national park - given a person knows the risk and purposefully put themselves in that situation.
Wouldn’t a long chain saw make a good weapon against a bear? As long as you can get it started. Maybe the noise alone would scare off the bear.
