Sometimes the old ways are the best. They need to open more polling places so lines are manageable, if the line is too long they need either another polling place or more booths and poll workers. We always knew who won on election night.
Mail in voting should be limited to those unable to go to the polls (not just inconvenient) and any mail in ballot received after the polls close are not counted.
I was telling a friend in Canada about how some US states do not require and ID to vote. He was flabbergasted. He immediately said that would make it too easy to cheat. That in national elections Canada uses the exact same paper ballot from New Brunswick all the way to BC.
And that is where all they have to do is expand the criteria for absentee ballots.
Both come and go by mail.

Mail In goes to any and every address. Just like they did in Nevada. One sent to every address in the phone book. What could go wrong
