8 month old would likely drink whole milk without Karo. Does the Karo add nutrients?

I guess the Karo does add nutrients. Thinking about it, seems like molasses would be better for nutrients instead of Karo. But the image that Tuscaloosa Goldfinch posted at #936 is dated 1960 and says Karo. Perhaps molasses has too much "something" in it for a baby. I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Mothers milk is slightly sweeter than cows milk. I’ve seen recipes for home made baby formula with regular sugar. Karo mixes more easily but it’s corn syrup ick.

Karo is straight corn syrup. Simple sugar. Nothing more. Not much of a substitute for Mothers milk, IMO.
