Your logic is to destroy the constitution, fair elections, and rule of law, alienating 50% of the voters in order to depose a Russian friendly politician (who, by the way, represented half the country that is Russian Speaking and many Pro-Russian). Insane.

Congratulations ma’am. You are proud product of CNN/MSNBC. I only pray that your children get to defend the Azov battalion and Bandera against the bad old Ukrainian Freedom Fighting Separatists and their evil Russian defenders.

You can always spot a loser as they invariably resort to childish and inane babbling when confronted with information not to their liking. BTW: Isn’t Bandera dead? I mean, like didn’t he die (ooops, wasn’t he killed?) 60 years ago or so? You need to read some history, son.

Don’t get angry. Embrace and defend Rachel Maddow’s version of Ukrainian revisionist History! It’s got you this far…right?

“Don’t get angry.”

Angry? Not me. I’m amused.

No, you’re logic is grade school level if that, and rather deficient.

Elections only guarantee accountability on one day out of every four / five years...

That’s the theory.

In practice, to safeguard the constitution and ensure eections are free and fair, one must also consider all the shenanigans that can be used to manipulate the outcome - hanging chads, postal voting, electronic tampering, pestering people going into the polling, harassing voters as they’re going to vote, turning legitimate voters away, letting ineligible people vote, accidentally on purpose losing counted boxes, double voting...

That’s just on voting day and look at the total mess that America’s own supposedly good electoral system is in.

That is why you need checks and balances, the right of recall, the right to challenge an election result, the right to know who owns the guy you just elected.

I know many Russian Ukrainians from the Donbass, and many more from cities across country. Have done for years.

Guess what. No matter where you go in Ukraine,a very high proportion of people either speak Russian at home, or speak it well enough as a second language. That is a retard point from retard Russia.

If half the Ukrainian country speaks Russian, Kyiv can’t legislate it out of use. What’s Zelenskyy’s first language? Well blow me down, it’s only Russian! He’s still practicing his Uke! Who knew?!

He wouldn’t be bothering if Russia hadn’t gifted the ultranationalists a PR victory by committing genocide on the very region and people they reckoned they were trying to save.

Many Donbass people I know are Russian speakers with Russian families who either voted for Yanukovych or would’ve voted for him if they’d been old enough. If they saw him in the street now he’d be lucky to make it to the nearest lamp post with his feet still on the ground.

He’s hated even by the Donbass Russians.only the Ultranationalist separatists want him back, which is no surprise because they’re paid up Putinistas, xortupt to the bore, and yhey were not bothered at all that Yanukovych sold their country to Putin without even telokng anybody.

Sorry for the typos. I was using a touchscreen outdoors and we had a heavy shower.

If they’re Russian citizens then they have no business claiming to be Ukrainians when it suits them.

Be Ukrainian or be Russian. Pick one.

If they’re American citizens then they have no business claiming to be Hispanic when it suits them.

Be Hispanic or be American. Pick one.

See how absurd you are?

You’re confusing ethnicity with citizenship, doofus.

I'm talking about Russians and Ukrainians being step children with the same genes in a family feud that we have no business being involved in.

My opinion is "We" The People of the United States Of America have no business getting involved in this Ukrainian-Russian civil war.   You have no business telling me to stop saying that.

What a crude thing to call yourself, MercyFlush.   That's my opinion too.

[I know it was meant to be a self-deprecating joke and it is just a little bit funny.]

“What a crude thing to call yourself, MercyFlush. That’s my opinion too.”

I used to have it up on my home page but ‘MercyFlush’ is in memory of a friend of mine from years back who used that handle. He’s gone now.

“My opinion is “We” The People of the United States Of America have no business getting involved in this Ukrainian-Russian civil war. You have no business telling me to stop saying that.”

1. It is not a civil war. Russia can call it that till the cows come home and it doesn’t excuse what those bastards are doing.

2. You’re entitled to your opinions. I’m also entitled to being a little weary of the Putinista wing on FR dreadfully overusing the inclusive language ‘we’, ‘us’, and ‘ours’ when they’re openly advocating for Russia.

They doth say this too much, methinks.

Friendly Regards,

1. It is not a civil war. Russia can call it that till the cows come home and it doesn’t excuse what those bastards are doing.

The United States existed for 87 years and all of the citizens belonged to the same country until the Southern States seceded.   On February 4, 1861, delegates from The Southern States except Texas met in Montgomery, Alabama, to create and staff a government called the Confederate States of America.   We all know that Union Military forces invaded the Confederated States and after four years of horrendous fighting the Union military overwhelmed and conquered the South.   After twelve years of military occupation the Reconstruction Period ended, oppression, suppression and derision continued beyond that.

The Soviet Union existed for 69 years and all of its comrades belonged to the same country until the Soviet Republics seceded.   On August 24, 1991 the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR passed a Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, calling for a national referendum on the independence of Ukraine from the Soviet Union.   Russia has interfered with the Ukrainian state several times since 1991, with two invasions and the annexation of The Crimea.   Repression and animosity continued between the Ukrainian and Russian states throughout the existence of the Soviet Union and continued after.

Ukrainians in Russia make up the largest single diaspora group of the Ukrainian people. The 2010 Russian census identified 1.9 million Ukrainians living in Russia, representing over 1.4% of the total population of the Russian Federation and comprising the third-largest ethnic group after ethnic Russians and Tatars.

It is a civil war just like our civil war.   Although I'll agree that the Ukrainians haven't lost it quite yet.

My next door neighbor has always called herself a Russian Refusenik, but told me the other day that she is of Ukrainian heritage and her Uncle still lives in Moscow.   Ukrainians and Russians are so much the same people that they split hairs on their minor differences, like the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.

Ukraine is a sovereign country that parted ways with Russia peacefully. Russia has signed endless numbers of documents recognizing this sovereignty and numerous documents that specifically acknowledge Ukrainian sovereignty.

You can call it a ‘civil war’ until you choke to death and it still won’t be a civil war.

It’s an established practice in totalitarian regimes throughout history as well. No war required.
