Russian invasion buffer
***There needs to be such things as invasion buffer zones. Manned by blue helmets. Whichever side invades, that’s who the blue helmet forces fight against. You wanna remove the blue helmets from that zone, you gotta do it forcefully and incur UN sanctions and direct action.
This will never happen due to international politics. It is a sad commentary on the nature of humanity.
I will interject that the Russian invasion buffer is not present when Ukraine exists as a sovereign nation.
***Russia signed off Ukraine as a sovereign nation in 1994 in exchange for nukes.

In the absence of UN willingness to do the right thing, America should implement my emBASEee strategee.
from my home page
I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.

For the record.......... the function of the Iron Curtain was to form a boundary for the Russian Defensive Buffer Zone
A thinner zone is now envisaged but is probably not possible reality
.
The Iron Curtain was more about keeping people in than keeping people out. Many thousands wanted freedom. They were shot for attempting it.
“The informal governments declared their formal status,”
A bunch of States tried that trick here in 1860. How’d that work out for them?

I’m more worried about OUR clown.
To maintain the buffer it was a necessity to control the population. Stalin negotiated with Hitler for Poland before the war to extend the buffer and was double crossed by Hitler who had territorial ambitions as well. The people were of no import, did not matter. The miles to Russia and river crossings were what was of value to protecting Russia
