TX DPS Director Steve McCraw now on Uvalde:
- Door was left propped open by a teacher before the crash
- An ISD officer responded to initial 911 call but drove past gunman, mistook teacher for gunman
- Gunman shot at least 100 rounds
- Both classroom doors locked w/ gunman inside
- 3 Uvalde police initially entered same door as gunman, 2 hit & got grazing wounds
- Several 911 calls made by students inside the school
- At 12:47 a student called saying, “Please send the police now”

BREAKING: The director of DPS confirms that no efforts were made to rescue children because an on-scene commander believed that authorities were addressing a barricaded suspect, not an active shooter. “A decision was made...that there was time...to wait for a tactical team.”
Director McCraw: “With the benefit of hindsight, it was the wrong decision.”
