He could have been medically retired. Happens all the time. But yeah, he’d have been a fool to turn his back on $3K month disability retirement to fight in Ukraine. ...Or a man of conviction.
Likely not a contractor (aka mercenary) for weapons training due to the limitations and liability his previous injury would pose. No one wants to hire a broke-D for a war zone.
I would think the US weapons training is occurring outside Ukraine with UKR soldiers going there. The pay scales for providing that kind of support inside a war zone are top of the charts. Like $330K/year with max hours and bonuses. But who knows what Biden and State are paying for.
“He could have been medically retired.”
LOL, good one.
Willy Joseph Cancel, 22, was being paid by a private military contracting company to fight in Ukraine when he died on Monday, family members told CNN.
I have mentioned before a former ranger/sniper offered $80,000 a month to go to Africa as a “contractor”. He had been injured by an IED, had 27 surgeries, and a permanent Trach, but they wanted to hire him. He didn’t take the job, btw.
