Mattea Roach has become one of the greatest Jeopardy! contestants of all time. Roach is on a 17-game winning streak as of the most recent episode. Her most recent victory was her closest yet, winning by only $1 over her closest competitor. She is only 23 years old and is ranked No. 8 all-time in consecutive wins on the show. So far, she has won $396,182 on the popular trivia game show. NBC News praised Roach's impressive accomplishments with a recent tweet, but instead of celebrating her brilliance, the tweet rejoiced over her sexual orientation.
"The 23-year-old lesbian tutor from Toronto has amassed a total of $320,081, the most by a Canadian contestant in Jeopardy!" the NBC News tweet read.
It is puzzling how NBC News would know this and why it would put that information in a tweet. Why is Roach's sexual orientation relevant in any way? Does being a lesbian make her superior in trivia? Does it grant her magical memory retention powers that mere mortal heterosexual contestants do not have?
Wasn’t the point of all of this gay awareness to promote equality? What is equal about promoting a game show contestant's sexuality when discussing her winning streak?

At first I thought her cute and attractive. Then I learned she’s a “lesbican”, as I heard someone express that certain leaning some years ago. Then I recently noticed the ring in her nose, at which I concluded that, tho she obviously has memorized a lot of trivia; her elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor. JMHO.
Not sure why one’s sexual orientation has bearing on one’s performance in a trivia competition.
Can someone enlighten me here?
That Amy guy did pretty well, didn’t he?
I was just wondering what Canadians did with girls who failed their lesbian classes in school.
True that. It totally underscored how traditional gender biases are rubbish.
They seem to be having a lot of freaks on recently.
I once had the pleasure of interacting with an lesbian disabled female HR Director.
I lived in San Francisco for ten years. So of course knew a lot of gays and lesbians. Gay men could be a lot of fun and the ones I knew liked women just fine. One even told me that if he’d had a mother like me, he wouldn’t be gay. Guess he liked my sense of humor.
Lesbians were not so happy, had no sense of humor and didn’t like anyone, including themselves. The woman on Jeopardy seems to be an exception. I had no clue she was gay until someone here brought it up. She’s clever and sometimes charming and witty.
Sin is between gays and God. I could care less who someone sleeps with. I do care if they’re pushing their lifestyle on others, especially children. I’ve said many times, maybe even here, that once a person reaches adulthood at 21, I could care less what they chop off or glue on and don’t care where they glue it. Stick it in their ear for all I care and stay away from kids.
She’s as good at her trivia as she is at her tribadism... I assume.
Maybe off topic, but does anyone remember Cash Cab?
I loved Cash Cab.
Whenever I visited my sister in NYC and we hailed a cab, I always hoped we’d somehow get the Cash Cab.
We never did, though. 😄

Amen to that!
It may depend on what part of Lesbia she comes from.
Imagine someone writing: "62-year-old Frank Jones, who is heterosexual, is the 7th-highest winning Jeopardy player..."
Regards,
Catty remark! Someone rub you the wrong way this morning?
(Hah-hah!)

I had to look that up. That’s very funny.
Evil promotes evil. Always.
Nose rings are repulsive and ugly. Why???
