If everyone charges one vehicle a night in your neighborhood, your neighborhood transformers are not going to survive very long. They are not sized to be running at near or full capacity 24/7, they were sized with the expectation that at night, the neighborhood power demand would be very low, the night is generally cooler too, and the transformer could cool down somewhat before the daytime peak power usage begins.

This is going to be a problem in NYC as they are trying to make new buildings use electricity for HEAT. NYC nights in winter can be cold.

Everyone can light candles around their solar panels. Lots and lots of candles. Likely enormous benefits to yield at least 12 seconds of great running time.
