It’s complicated. Often GERD sufferers only realize permanent relief as a byproduct of other changes.
The bottom line is that all methods to address GERD are treating it as a disease - a fallacy - rather than a symptom of another condition.
The greatest fallacy of all is the belief that GERD is due to too-acid (low pH) of the gastric juices. It is, in fact, due to the opposite and PPI compounds exacerbate the condition for mere temporary relief of the symptoms of GERD (i.e., chasing your tail).
In the absence of my book to guide you - as yet unpublished, and certainly only a guide to get to resolution - any naturopath worth their salt can guide you in the right direction.
But trust no MD.
I had bad reflux and my gastro doc told me "it Barrets - precancerous!" gotta have annual endoscopy forever.
No - I found a great surgeon who did a laparoscopic nissen fundoplication - the top of the stomach is stretch around the esophagus and "glued" together. Cured the reflux and the esophageal insult.
Like the dermatologists ANY biopsy report has some "atypia" and they call that "precancerous" requiring intervention.

Fascinating.
Thank you for sharing that.
I have read similar items to your post. It is counter-intuative, but makes sense.
We’ve tried to encourage a close relative with trying to alleviate her GERD this way, dropping her PPI for awhile, due to issues it’s creating for her, but to no avail. She is unwilling to try a different approach to her GERD, which is obviously her choice.
I had acid reflux during sleep many years ago, enough to cause some damage that was visible during an endoscopy. I resolved it completely by
1. Elevating the head of my bed about 10-12 degrees (you get used to it).
2. Not having anything significant to eat within about 3 hours of bedtime.
3. Taking an antacid before bed. Used to be Zantac for me, now it’s Pepcid.
“... I found a great surgeon who did a laparoscopic nissen fundoplication...”
I had that surgery in 2010. Successful but for some unknown reason am still experiencing GERD symptons at night. Carafate calms it down.
10-12 degrees is raising the head of the bed about 6”?
Doesn’t Pepcid recommend discontinuing use after a few weeks?
I was diagnosed with BE a few years ago after an endoscopy. I’ve been taking Omeprazole that works just fine.
That’s tragic. GERD under M&M is just like T2 diabetes (which is also reversible):
One foot in the grave.
I know: My father refuses to heed any advice whatsoever, content to take his insulin.
It’s this conditioning of the public over the past 50 years or so which brought success to their SARS-CoV-2 gaslighting efforts.
Thanks.

Me too.
I've been on Lansopraz Dr RX Capsules 30 mg twice a day, and it works well. It's the generic for Prevacid. I seem to have a very slow digestive system, so I also keep bananas in the house. They are good at neutralizing stomach acid. If I have something, like a bacon burger or loaded pizza for supper, and I want to make sure they won't come back to haunt me during the night, I'll have a banana before heading to bed.
Have you had follow up endoscopys after the initial one? My doctor recommended them but I never followed thru. When you’re single, it’s hard to find someone willing to spend the hours in the clinic waiting for you to take you home since they won’t allow you to leave by yourself.
Really? I never knew that....

I have that problem also. But plan to use Uber if I get into that situation. And one grand daughter has a driver’s license now but doesn’t own her own car. Mine are all manual trans.
Works the opposite for most people...
“Eating raw bananas or eating them on an empty stomach can cause your stomach acid to try and travel up into the esophagus, causing GERD.”
It's the potassium in them. A couple of years ago I made the mistake of buying a pepperoni flat bread pizza from Walmart. I added salami, some veggies, and bacon bits. I had no symptoms after eating, and didn't go to bed for at least six hours after I ate. In the middle of the night I woke up choking on grease. It was the orange grease that comes from pepperoni when it's cooked. I hadn't had an acid reflux incident in a very long time, and this one was the worst I'd ever had. The crap was coming out of my nose. Everything was burning. I was in agony. I tried baking soda and water, drinking a glass of milk, eating saltine crackers. Nothing would stop the burning. As a last resort I grabbed a banana. I had instant relief, and was able to get back to bed and sleep without any further problems. The next day I did a search for bananas and acid reflux, and found that they are highly recommended for countering acid reflux.
