Russian provocations in Transnistria are a direct threat to Ukraine. Moldova and European democracies must address this issue immediately.
"Russia has staged a series of explosions in occupied Transnistria. Russia is apparently creating a pretext for invading Transnistria, according to a plan to seize Ukraine's Black Sea coast, announced on April 22 by Rustam Minnekayev, deputy chief of the Central Military District."
Unfortunately, Transnistria has become a center of international terrorism. The Moldovan authorities are obliged to respond to Russian provocations and Russian arsenals in Transnistria, which is a direct threat to Ukraine and assistance to the aggressor during the war. Moldova must decide on its position during Russia's attack on Ukraine and state exactly how it intends to disarm these gangs. Perhaps the world community should seek military assistance.
Transnistria is a springboard for the offensive of Russian troops and the basis of international terrorism. This problem must be solved immediately by the democratic countries of Europe," he stressed.
It will be recalled that on April 22, Acting Commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnekayev said that the Russian army plans to establish full control over Donbas and southern Ukraine and provide a land corridor to Crimea during a new offensive in eastern Ukraine. The control of the Russian army over the south of Ukraine will also allow access to Transnistria, the Central Command said..
On the morning of April 26, two explosions took place in the territory of unrecognized Transnistria in the village of Mayak, Hryhoriopol district.
The "leadership" of unrecognized Transnistria has introduced a "red" level of terrorist threat and promised to make "decisions to protect the interests of the republic."
The President of the Republic of Moldova Maya Sandu convenes an urgent meeting of the High Security Council.
Car queues formed after explosions in unrecognized Transnistria left for the Moldovan government-controlled territory.
Eliminate the weapons depots!
Ukraine attacks Transnistria and asks Romania to open a second front, but it is Russia that is preparing the invasion of that it has already invaded....Brilliant logic!
AFAIK, the British intelligence recommends Ukraine not to, because it is going to produce an imperative for both Russia and Transnistria to attack both Nikolaev and Odessa, making Ukraine a landlocked country for good.
Many people have been guessing at “Russia’s Plan” but I think its nearly guaranteed they do not intend to leave Ukraine with any access to the sea.

Oh, thank goodness. “Transnistria”. I was afraid they were targeting Tartaria where they make the sauce for fish ‘n chips.
Or else what?
This stuff is becoming like a four-year old asking for a pony.
I really hope the Ukraine plan wasn't to turn it into someone else's problem.
“Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, is an unrecognised breakaway state that is internationally recognised as part of Moldova. Transnistria is mostly located in most of the narrow strip of land between the Dniester river and the Moldovan–Ukrainian border, with control of some land on the river’s other bank. Its capital and largest city is Tiraspol.”

If only they had the troops and resources. And favorable geography ... intentions will not gain them that - as the intention is to gain ALL of Ukraine, not just little pieces.
‘Many people have been guessing at “Russia’s Plan”...’
Well, we didn’t really need to guess after the idiot Belarussians did a press conference with their tactical map showing the Russian invasion plans still up in the room and visible to the media. That map included the plans for the Transnistria invasion. This was months ago.
You’re making the case for Ukraine and Moldova to preemptively attack and destroy the Russian forces in Transnistria. As well they should.
In fact the majority of Moldovans are anti-Ukrainian and for that reason Moldova is unlikely to participate. The Ukrainian attempts are likely to force the Russian thrust in the south with the sad consequences for Ukraine. In February they had a chance to get away lightly by the recognition of LDNR and Crimea. Now they are going to be a landlocked rump state, and that’s the best case scenario. It fact, their recent actions make it clear that once the Donbas front is finished there will be a new Kiev offensive.
Russians have only 1,500 soldiers in Transnistria. And Transnistria government is widely unpopular.
So I do not think there is a danger to Ukraine coming from there.
Maybe, actually, this signifies the end of Transnistria.
Moldovan and Ukrainian forces can take it down pretty quickly, if they want. Time to do it, in my opinion.
Unpopular according to which sources? Go read some polls regarding the Moldovan attitudes towards NATO and Russia. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia annexes Moldova as a whole if they are to try something this stupid.
I am talking about the so called government of Transnistria.
That “country” is frozen in Communist past, very poor and full of unhappy people. Hold together by the oppressive military only. Total anachronism.
I am pretty sure they would not mind to be swallowed by some neighbor.
Have you been to Transnistria? Do you think Moldova is more successful?
Surely
I c, you have no idea:)
